Our Story

Two Perspectives, One Complete Guide

Bonjour Guide is written by Jean-Paul, who grew up in Burgundy, France, and Jessica, an American who has spent more than twenty years traveling in France.

Jean-Paul

Jean-Paul was born and raised in Burgundy and has lived in France his entire life. He knows how the transit systems, social customs, and daily routines work because he has navigated them since childhood.

"Most French people do not think to explain how things work here. It is just normal life. I started noticing that what felt obvious to me was genuinely confusing to visitors, and that nobody was bridging that gap."

Jessica

Jessica has been traveling to France for more than twenty years. She and Jean-Paul met in grad school. She writes for American travelers because she is one, and because most of what she knows came from figuring it out on the ground.

"I have shown up to things completely unprepared more times than I can count. A lot of what is on this site is what I wish someone had told me before I landed."

What This Site Covers

Bonjour Guide covers practical, everyday France travel for American visitors. How systems work, what to expect, and what tends to get left out of most travel guides. Every article comes from direct experience.
